FOR
LARGER GROUPS WE CAN ORGANISE ADDITIONAL BOATS - each community boat
can accommodate twelve passengers |
Cruises usually
start and return from York Way Bridge, King’s Cross, London N1. A
day can be seven hours cruising (with an hour for lunch), mooring
each evening to allow passengers to have a barbecue, visit local
pubs, restaurants and other local facilities and entertainments.
There will be opportunities, if the group wishes, to be involved
with all aspects of boating, from steering to helping Tarporley
through locks. A
cruise is tailored for each groups needs, from visiting places of
historical or environmental interest to shopping, stopping for a
picnic, fishing or rowing in one of the dinghies. The canals present
a different world, where it is impossible not to relax and unwind,
it has to be experienced to discover the magic. The more planning
and discussion in advance the more enjoyable the experience will
be. Tarporley has four berths at the front which also act
as seating during the daytime, with a radio/cassette player. Tables
can be placed here either for meals or as a work surface. There are
a further eight berths at the back making twelve beds altogether
(see plan on Booking Page). Between these
two areas, in the centre of the boat, there is a fully equipped
kitchen with two gas cookers, a fridge, hot water and cupboards with
all the pans, crockery and cutlery you are likely to need. There is
also a washroom with flushing toilet, hand basin and shower. As
well as a sleeping bag and a pillow, bring outdoor clothing suitable
for the weather conditions at the time with flat rubber sole
footwear for safety on the outside of the boat. Any food you want to
eat on board or at picnics, although you are never far from a
supermarket. Washing things, games, music cassets, a fishing rod
and, of course, a camera with plenty of film. |
|
The prices above in bold type are those
charged to charitable groups, business groups are charged at an
additional 50% as printed in brackets. See the SHORT CRUISES page for day trips, and the BOOKING page for a boat plan and full details. |
